Simple Statements

Last weekend I went to a women's conference. I wanted to wear something simple with just a few soft touches. I enjoyed wearing this Gap sweater that I got a few years ago for $4. I wore some jeans from Ross & my brown boots from JCPenney. The scarf & earrings came from Amy for my birthday & I LOVE them! My gold disc initial necklace was the perfect thing to tie all of it together. Since it was freezing I decided to wear my pink peacoat I have had for years...literally years...like 10 or so!

Valentine's Attire

I don't know about you but I LOVE Valentine's Day, I love dressing for Valentine's Day & I love Valentine's Day decorations. For the last week I have been dressing my family in Valentine's colors, Daniel included! Here are two outfits I have worn in the last week preparing for Valentine's Day.

This Old Navy heart sweater is so comfortable! It was a hand me down from a friend. My pants are dark jeans from Ross.

My favorite colors together are red & pink! I wore this to church on Sunday & a woman commented "This is such a Julie Taylor outfit"!!! I told her I had been wearing these colors since I was 15 every Valentine's Day! The dress I have had since I was like 15 & I have no idea where it is from. The cardigan is from Gap.

Have a LOVE filled Valentine's Day!

Blue & Grey

I love wearing dresses, whether it's winter, summer, spring or fall. I love dresses. I have had this dress for years now. I'm actually not sure where I got it from but I'm assuming Ross. I paired this interesting colored blue cardigan with it that I got from Gap for $3 a few years ago. The black tights that I wore with it I wear all the time in the winter. The black boots are from Ross also. I really wish you could see my necklace & earrings better(they were from New York & Company). It matches with my cardigan perfect!! It's special to me because my mom gave it to me for Christmas a few years ago.

Gap Striped Skirt

Wow...this is just weird! I got on here to blog about this skirt I bought from Gap while we were in Branson only to find that Katie blogged today about the other skirt I had bought!! Crazy! Originally, this skirt was $44.99. I got it for $3.00!!! Seriously, it was a steal of a deal. I loved the deep blues in the skirt. What's funny is that I bought this cardigan from Gap 2 years ago for $2.97! I have gotten some awesome deals from some Gap outlets!! The white undershirt is from Old Navy & the boots are from JCPenney. Also, the necklace & earrings are from New York & Co that I got from my mom for Christmas a couple of years ago!

Transitioning between the Seasons

I don't know about you, but the hardest times of the year for me to know how to dress is at the change of the seasons. Especially when you feel like it is "supposed" to be a change of season, but the temperature doesn't really "feel" like the season has changed yet. We are into September now, so I don't feel like I should be wearing my full-out summer clothes anymore, but it is still HOT here in the South!! I know there used to be certain rules like, no sandals after Labor Day, etc. I don't really believe in following rules like that in fashion. I think you should wear what you love and what you feel is appropriate for the season and occasion.
This is what I wore to church on Sunday. I'm trying to start wearing darker colors and transition to more of the fall look.

Cardigan: Ann Taylor Loft, Scarf: Ann Taylor Loft
Top: GAP, Pants: New York and Company
Shoes: Rack Room

I do feel like it's a little too early to pull out my boots, so these are the perfect in-between shoes! I love these booties. They are really comfortable and I am able to wear them with pants or skirts/dresses. They are a fun alternative to a pump or flats.
Hope this gives you some ideas on how to transition your fashion into fall!

Back to School

Well, we are officially back to school! I don't know about you, but to me that means it is time to start thinking about FALL!!! I am starting to look at what I need for my fall wardrobe and I am getting excited about the upcoming cooler temperatures.

Product Details
My sister-in-law Julie gave me some fleece-lined tights for Christmas last year. They are Amazing!! I definitely want another pair of these. They are so soft and comfy!

I am in love with this slouchy sweater. It looks so comfortable without being sloppy. I love that it can be dressed up or down. I would love to own this sweater this fall/winter!!

For awhile now I have been wanting a good pair of straight-leg jeans. Not skinny jeans. Not boot cut. Not jegging. Just straight-leg. These look like a great option.

Report Jesslyn Buckle Boots
I LOVE these boots! I love the strappy detail on them. They are on my wish list for sure...I think I would get a ton of wear out of them!!
I love the changing of the seasons and the chance to add a few new things to my wardrobe. What about you? Do you have a wish list for fall? Have you even started thinking that way yet???

Style Upgrade!

Today I'm going to show you some ways you can easily upgrade your style! I'm going to take three outfits and then make a few changes to them to make them a lot cuter.

The first outfit is a simple black shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. Now, let me say...I NEVER wear tennis shoes. I just don't feel like they look cute on me at all. I will occasionally wear my converse though. I really love them.

Shirt: GAP, Jeans: borrowed from my mom (unsure of brand),
Scarf: Ann Taylor Loft, Sandals: Target
Earrings and Bracelet: Premier (the bracelet is actually a necklace)

To make this outfit a little more snazzy I threw on a scarf, rolled up the jeans, switched to sandals instead of tennis shoes, and put on some jewelry.

The next outfit is a simple brown dress and sandals. I love to wear dresses in the summer. They are so light and easy!

Dress: Plato's Closet (unsure of brand), Cardigan: GAP,
Shoes: Shoe Carnival, Necklace: Oragami Owl,
Earrings: Gift from mom

With this dress, I simply added some colorful accessories. I love wearing a pop of color with my solid dresses. This bright cardigan and fun shoes completely changed the look of this outfit. I added my rose gold jewelry with it.

The last outfit I'm going to show you is a pair of black shorts and a black and white polka-dot top.

Shorts: Ann Taylor Loft, Shirt: New York and Company,
Jewelry: Unsure, Shoes: Nine West

With my last outfit I switched out my sandals for a pair of bright ballerina flats. Again, notice how I used the pop of color. The red is a classic pairing with the black and white and I love the way it looks.

What about  you? What are some ways you upgrade your outfits? I'd love to see some of your suggestions!
