Date Night

Last Friday night my husband and I actually went out on a date! Abby and Jared were with their mom and my parents kept Graham for us. Jesse's work had given him a gift card to a restaurant, so it was the perfect opportunity for us to get some one-on-one time. I was really excited because I could finally fit back in my skinny jeans! I have been focusing really hard for the past couple of months on eating right, and it is finally paying off. I paired my jeans with a shirt that I bought a few years ago when I was visiting Julie in Texas. It actually came from the same boutique as the dress from my last post. I love this shirt and I especially love that it was only a few dollars!

Perfect Shorts + A Look Back

Have you ever tried on the most perfect shorts and just knew you had to have them?  No?  I have a really hard time finding shorts, because I don't like them long but also can't wear them really short, either.  So when I find a pair of shorts that hit at just.the.right.place, I can't turn them down.  Even when I've promised I'm not going to buy one more summer item!

Outfit Details:  Top:  Ross; Shorts: Ross;
Sandals: Payless Shoe Source

There are so many things that are perfect about these shorts: the length, the flow, the material (they are very soft and they flow and hang just perfectly), and to top it all off, they're an elastic waist!  Oh how I wish I could have found these in several styles and colors!  I definitely would have bought more!  Oh well, I'm glad I at least found these!

Since we are officially on the last week of summer (maybe not in temperatures, but next week will be September! YAY!), I thought I would look back on some of my outfits from the 2014 summer season...

I know that from here on out, even if the weather is warm, I will not be wearing all of my light and brights anymore.  Oh, I will definitely keep on having pops of color, but I can tell every day that I am gravitating more towards the warmer, richer hues of fall.

Can't wait to post my first outfit with a scarf and boots!  That day can just not come quickly enough!!

Happy Wednesday!

What to Wear?

Do you ever need to see what someone else wears to just every day places? Sometimes I just need some inspiration. Today I'm going to show you multiple outfits just to out & about places.

I wore this recently to go grocery shopping. I have to be presentable when I go to the grocery store b/c in a small town you are ALWAYS going to see someone you know!

I wore this simple dress one day out shopping.

This was also a shopping outfit.

Sported my rain boots on a rainy day!

I wore this outfit one day while taking June to the doctor.

I loved this outfit because of the leopard accessories (the belt is leopard you just can't tell). I wore this on a date night.

For a girls night, I went for some white capris & a black sheer top. I accented it with turquoise fingernail polish & a turquoise purse.

A day for running errands calls for comfort & cuteness.

This is totally a "ME" outfit w/ floral & pearls! I got a lot of compliments on these leggings when I wore them. I wore this to a dentist appt.

I really hate this picture b/c it doesn't display this outfit well. The shirt has green neon stripes but you can't really tell. Also, after I took this picture I put a neon pink belt on & tucked in my shirt & I liked the looks of it much better. I've noticed I like shirts tucked in w/ a belt way more than just hanging out now. Anyways, I wore this for a date day me & Daniel went on for his birthday. We went on some "mini" dates which included golf & bowling so I wanted to be casual.

(Normally, I wear more dresses but when I'm either pregnant or nursing it is not as easy. I am looking forward to getting back to my normal dresses soon!)

Those are just some ideas for different days! Hope you can take something from this post! :)

Leopard print

I love leopard print. Like, it comes in close after monogram as being one of my favorite things to wear. Doesn't every outfit look cuter with a touch of leopard print. I have always loved it and I was so excited a few years ago when it started really coming back in style. But to me, leopard print never really goes out of style! This leopard print skirts is one of my favorite skirts I have. The material is so comfortable. The skirt is truly a classic. I have had it since I was 18! Do the math and you will know that means I have had this skirt 13 years and I wear it all the time! It has gotten so much wear but I still love it. It was from Anne Taylor Loft. My shirt is from Maurice's last season ($32.99). And again, has gotten a lot of wear. Is there anyone who can relate to my love of leopard print?! Happy Monday!

$.47 Rockstar Jeans

About a month ago I went to Old Navy. They were having a huge sale on their jeans. I was rummaging through them looking for my size & brand that I wear. I love the Rockstar brand but you ALWAYS have to try them on because they are a such a different fit from pair to pair. Most of the jeans I was finding were $6.99! Great price right?! I picked up some that didn't have a price tag on them. I went to a cashier & asked them how much they were...his response was breathtaking...$.47!!! What??? You have to be kidding me! Nope $.47. You are reading this right...the jeans were forty-seven cents! Well, that was a no brainer...of course I bought them!!!

The shirt was a hand me down & the shoes were from TJ Maxx.

I have to say I have gotten some crazy deals at Old Navy! Just keeps me coming back for more-but I don't think I can do better than $.47 Jeans!

Celebration Sunday

This past Sunday was a special day in the life of our church, Fayette Baptist Church. It was our 2 year anniversary. We were going to be having lunch following the service, so I knew I needed to wear something comfortable. Also, we had a family birthday party to go to afterwards. I still wanted to look nice for service though. I ended up choosing a dress that I bought one time when I was visiting Julie in Texas. This came from a little boutique in downtown Kilgore. Something about this dress always makes me think of an old Spanish dress. I really like it and always get compliments when I wear it. What's even better is how comfortable it is!!

What I Wore Wednesday...Thinking Outside the Box

I'm not really a creative person, not really someone who "thinks outside the box".  But I'm trying to push myself to be that way when it comes to my clothes!  Normally I put together the obvious.  I gravitate towards what's "safe".  So I'm taking baby steps in trying to do new things:  new color combinations, pattern mixing, etc.

A couple weeks ago I borrowed a skirt from my mom and paired it with a top that was not so "obvious" to me...

Outfit Details:  Top:  Hand me down (original unknown);
Skirt:  Borrowed from my mom; Belt:  Goodwill (only $2!);
Wedges:  Plato's Closet

Normally I would go with the obvious choice of top with this skirt:  a white top of some kind.  But I wanted to do something different, and I think it came out looking cute!  Not only did I pair the pink and turquoise together (a color combo that I love!), I also mixed patterns - the skirt has little polka dots and my shoes are cheetah print.  Way to go me; right?!

I also carried my new purse from Francesca's - I have been loving this purse, and know that it is going to be great through the fall, as well!!

I know that this is not a huge step outside of the box or anything, but for me, this is a great first step!

What about you?  Do you have trouble thinking outside of the box?  Do you mix patterns and put together fun color palettes?

Happy Wednesday!

Black Romper & Black Striped Go-To Dress

The other day a friend called me up & said "I am watching your kids tonight so you & Daniel can go out on a date". Umm...OK! Can't really argue with that now can you?! So, I have been wanting to wear my black romper that I've had for a few years but haven't pulled it out this summer yet. I thought our date night would be a great night to do that. Since it's spaghetti strap I put a little light weight cardigan with it that was a hand me down. I paired my nude wedges with it & I was good to go!

I love this black striped dress! It is so comfortable, I'm kinda obsessed with stripes right now & I love the way it is feminine at the bottom! But first, let me tell you about these shoes! I'm not buying anymore summer attire but when I saw these shoes at Ross I fell in love! Then I looked at the price... $7.99! Even deeper in love! I don't know if you can tell from the picture...but they are shimmery!!! Even more perfect!

Like everyone else, I'm having to make myself where summer clothes. I would rebel but it's close to 100 degrees in East TX so...I won't! Soon hopefully though we will be showing fall fashion!! :)

Navy and coral

Casual Monday but loving these stripe Old Navy shorts and this coral top. I love the combination of coral and navy. I got these shorts at an end of season clearance sale a few seasons ago for $4.99!! The coral top is a Ross find. I got it so long ago I can't even remember what I paid for it but I have gotten so much wear out of it. I am beyond ready to put the summer clothes away and get some fall clothes out. Anyone else ready to switch to sweaters and boots?!

2014 Current Fall Wish List

Do you have a fashion fall wish list?  I certainly do!  Some of these things I have already begun to buy, but I am going to show you just a few of the things I'm currently wanting.  Of course, as I get further into each new season, I realize things that I need and so this list will always be added to, but hopefully I will be slowly crossing things off, as well! :)

SHOES:

I actually ordered the strappy boots above about a week ago.  I have had my eye on these boots for about two months, and when the price dipped under $20, I knew I had to have them (plus you can have them shipped to a store, so you don't have to pay shipping costs!)!  I paid under $20 total for them, so I can't wait to get them in and see how they fit.  I'm absolutely positive that I will buy the fringe boots from Target before the season is out.  I just love them so much...

JEWELRY:

I have been wanting a gold monogrammed necklace for a while but figure that would be a great gift for someone to buy me.  Sisters, who has my name for Christmas?? ;)

CLOTHES:

I have been wanting a pair of black leather pants or leggings for a while.  These would obviously have to be tastefully done, but as you can see in the picture above, they're really adorable when done right!  Not sure if I could pull them off without losing a few pounds though...we'll have to see about those...

I REALLY want a sweater with the elbow patches.  This will definitely be a purchase I make before the season is out!!  I think this is such a great preppy look and just love the look.  It also kinda reminds me of a suit coat my dad had when I was younger that had elbow pads.  Just being honest...

I don't know why green jeans/jeggings continue to elude me, but they do.  It is my mission to find a pair that fits and is affordable for this coming fall season!

Yes, I would like a green military jacket.  I think they are cute, and with me trying to dress down a little more often, I think it would be just the thing...

Did you know that gray is the new blue?  I didn't either.  Old Navy says it is, though, so it must be.  No, really, I do need a pair of gray pants - I have a pair of jeggings but they are more legging than jegging so I need something that doesn't require a shirt down to my knees to wear them with.

What's on your fall wish list?  Fall will be here before you know it!!!
Happy Saturday!

Workout wear

I'm pretty sure I live in workout clothes way too much. For that reason, I have tried out lots of different brands and kinds of workout attire. I have heard a lot of different opinions when it comes to best workout clothes, shoes, watches... Everything. Again, I guess my loving to keep things simple, my favorite workout clothes are not what most others would say. If I can find a great deal and it works well when I'm in the gym, I'm all for it! Here are a few of my favorites:

I love nike free running shoes. I have always been told by my running friends that nike brand shoes aren't great for running but I absolutely love the nike free running shoes. They are so light and easy to run in. I have several pairs in very bright colors (turquoise and pink) so this fall I am really wanting a pair like this:
Nike Free TR 4 Women's Training Shoe

I also love Old Navy workout attire. They run sales on their active clothing quite frequently making it very affordable. Their workout attire stays looking good after many washes, fits great and breathes so well. I couldn't live without these:

Another favorite of mine is my nike sports watch. My husband surprised me with this a few months ago and I love it! It tracks my distance ran and calories burned. I looked at several sports watches that offer similar features and fell in love with this one:

Nike+ SportWatch GPS (with Sensor) Powered by TomTom ®

These are just a few of my favorites that I couldn't live without! Lucky for me, I work about 5 minutes away from a nike outlet store. If you live near one, consider yourself lucky and go check it out! I frequently get amazing deals on great workout clothes at my local store. With all workout brands, nike still remains my favorite!

Back to School

Well, we are officially back to school! I don't know about you, but to me that means it is time to start thinking about FALL!!! I am starting to look at what I need for my fall wardrobe and I am getting excited about the upcoming cooler temperatures.

Product Details
My sister-in-law Julie gave me some fleece-lined tights for Christmas last year. They are Amazing!! I definitely want another pair of these. They are so soft and comfy!

I am in love with this slouchy sweater. It looks so comfortable without being sloppy. I love that it can be dressed up or down. I would love to own this sweater this fall/winter!!

For awhile now I have been wanting a good pair of straight-leg jeans. Not skinny jeans. Not boot cut. Not jegging. Just straight-leg. These look like a great option.

Report Jesslyn Buckle Boots
I LOVE these boots! I love the strappy detail on them. They are on my wish list for sure...I think I would get a ton of wear out of them!!
I love the changing of the seasons and the chance to add a few new things to my wardrobe. What about you? Do you have a wish list for fall? Have you even started thinking that way yet???

What I Wore Wednesday...Black & White Details

I don't usually like to wear black and white in the summer, but this past Sunday I pulled out a dress that has been hanging in my closet for two years...yes, I said TWO years, and I had never worn it until Sunday!

Outfit Details:  Dress:  Hand me Down (original unknown); Wedges: Payless

It's one of those dresses that is just all about the details.  I love the embroidery on the dress, along with the handstitching on the neckline and the hemline of the dress.  It was pretty much a major hit at church...the thing that I found most ironic was that I got more compliments from men on this dress than I have ever gotten with any other outfit.  I don't know why?? I got a lot of love from this dress, so it is definitely one that I will wear again (probably not this year, but next year for sure!).

You would think that I would wear these shoes all the time in the summer, but in reality, there just aren't a lot of outfits that I wear these shoes with.  In fact, I think it is the first time this summer that I have worn them to church!  Crazy.  I do think it was the perfect shoe for this outfit, though.

Are you counting down the days to fall?  I am so ready to begin posting fall outfits instead of summer clothes!  Let's hope these next couple of weeks bring our wonderful summer weather to a close!

Happy Wednesday!
