Fall Family Photo

We had fall family pictures taken about 2 weeks ago. It has been 4 years since we've had any family pictures taken! So, you can imagine the planning that took place for the outfits... Here is what I came up with! I wanted us to match but yet throw some different prints in there!

Daniel & Jett matched with some chambray shirts. Jenna & June matched in some floral dresses & pearls & I decided to wear a pink dress that I got from Ross (it was actually my Easter dress)! I was pleased with how all the outfits turned out! :)

Halloween Style

Tomorrow is Halloween!!! This past week our life group from church had a costume party. As soon as I heard about it I knew that I wanted our family to go as a group theme. Abby and Jared will be with their mom on the actual Halloween this year, so we didn't have to spend any money on their costumes. Because of this I was able to spend a little bit on our costumes for the party. I really didn't spend very much at all though. The only actual costume that I bought was Graham's, and for everyone else I bought a piece here and there. Jesse and I decided that we would go as the cast of Scooby Doo. Graham was Scooby and then everyone else was the rest of the cast! I went as Velma, Jared was Shaggy, Jesse was Fred, and Abby was Daphne.

I borrowed a few pieces, we already had a few things that worked, and then there were a few pieces that I had to purchase. We had a lot of fun with this though. What about you? Do you have any plans to dress up for Halloween this year???

What I Wore Wednesday...Keeping it Simple

Sometimes it's good just to keep things simple.  A white sweater with jeans and boots in the fall is a great go to outfit for so many different outings.  Recently I wore this outfit while running errands and felt like even though it was simple, it still looked nicely put together.

Can I just tell you that this sweater was only $3.99 at JC Penney?!  I couldn't believe it when I saw the price!  I have loved this sweater and have already worn it several times this season and know it will be something that will be worn for many seasons to come.

I also love this crossbody bag that I recently purchased at Gordman's.  It has a really nice feel to it and is great for my casual days. Even though I'm crushing on my sweater and bag, my favorite piece of this outfit is definitely my riding boots that my mother in law bought me for my birthday!  I know these will be worn all through the winter season!

Outfit Details: Sweater: JC Penney; Skinny Jeans:  Walmart;
Riding Boots: Target

What about you?  How do you keep it simple on your casual days?

Happy Wednesday!

Fall Green, Brown & Boot Socks

A fall color I appreciate is a deep green! I have had this dress for a couple of years & I still enjoy wearing it! It's been a little cool in the mornings but then warm in the afternoons so I decided to put leggings & boot socks with this dress since it's a little short too! It was a fun fall dress to wear & I'm pretty obsessed with these boots!

Brown and black mix

Brown and black together, I love this combination. I have to be honest, from the first time I saw this on Pinterest, I loved this look. Ever since,  I have been wearing it frequently.. Probably way too frequently! Today I wore this black skirt and shirt and paired this brown belt with it. Does anyone else share my love of brown and black worn together?!

This skirt I picked up a few months ago at Old Navy. I have loved this skirt. So very comfortable but cute at the same time. My shirt is from Forever 21 and cost less than $5.00! The brown belt is from Maurice's. I have gotten SO much wear out of this belt. The booties are from Old Navy as well. Last fall, Old Navy ran a sale on these booties so of course I had to pick them up in several different colors! Anyone else guilty of this?!
Happy Monday! :)

Chambray Shirt & a Jean Vest

I love chambray shirts! I wear this shirt a lot! The other day I needed a casual comfortable outfit because the kids & I were going to a pumpkin patch. This is the outfit I decided to go with & it turned out pretty good! The shirt came from Ross, the jeans are Rockstar jeans from Old Navy, & the tank top is Old Navy!

This second outfit was just an outfit I threw together for a Sunday night to church! As you can tell, I love maxi skirts! This maroon tshirt I bought from Walmart & the jean vest was from Ross! The gold necklace also came from Walmart & the leopard shoes (that you can't see) came from Target!

I'm really looking forward to finding more ways to wear this denim vest during the fall & winter months! :)

I Love Pinterest!

I love Pinterest for so many reasons. I get decorating ideas, recipes, cleaning tips...all kinds of things off of Pinterest. But one of my favorite things is to look and get ideas for outfits! I love that you can pin entire outfits and then go home and try to put them together yourself. Here are a few that I've looked at recently.

Cheetah scarf, red pants, and a jean shirt. So cute!
I LOVE these red jeans with the leopard print scarf! One thing I really want this season is a jean shirt. You can wear it so many different ways, and it is on my wish list for sure!

Perfect for fall If you like this picture - follow my pinterest @MuteFashion or visit my official blog: http://mutefashion.com/
I really like everything about this outfit. The shirt looks so comfortable, and the ruching around the waistline would help hide a little tummy. The purse is super cute, and I seriously think I need to add these boots to my collection!

I've never really done the layering thing, but this looks really cute. I think I might be able to pull this off. And I love the way they use the orange shoes for a pop of color. I also love the multiple necklaces. I think this outfit is really classy.

All three of these outfits are super cute, and I think would be pretty easy to replicate! How about you, do you like to look at certain places for inspiration and then try to copy the outfits at home??

Black & Red

The color combination I seem to always fall back on when I feel like I have "nothing to wear" seems to be black and red.  It's a little more fun than just black, and gives just enough pop of color to make me feel like I've actually put a little effort into my outfit for the day.

A few nights ago Drew and I attended the MidSouth Baptist Associational yearly meeting, and I just felt like nothing was appropriate to wear.  I didn't want to wear jeans, and I didn't want to wear a dress.  I couldn't dress for cold weather, but it's not hot either, and besides that, all of my summer clothes are packed away.  Nothing seemed to work.  So I fell back on my old faithful - yep, red and black.  It's not my favorite outfit ever, but it works when you're in a hurry.

Outfit Details:  Top: Hand me down (original unknown); Pants: Walmart;
Shoes:  Rack Room shoes

I love the tops where the back is just a little longer in the back than in the front, and this top is like that.  I absolutely LOVED these shoes when I laid eyes on them, but when I wore them, they were extremely uncomfortable.  I do not think I will wear these very often.  I hate it when I make purchases like those (at least I bought these with a gift card, so I am not really out any money)!

Gap Striped Skirt

Wow...this is just weird! I got on here to blog about this skirt I bought from Gap while we were in Branson only to find that Katie blogged today about the other skirt I had bought!! Crazy! Originally, this skirt was $44.99. I got it for $3.00!!! Seriously, it was a steal of a deal. I loved the deep blues in the skirt. What's funny is that I bought this cardigan from Gap 2 years ago for $2.97! I have gotten some awesome deals from some Gap outlets!! The white undershirt is from Old Navy & the boots are from JCPenney. Also, the necklace & earrings are from New York & Co that I got from my mom for Christmas a couple of years ago!

Skirt and booties

Today I pulled out a couple of the items I purchased while shopping in Chicago. Thanks to a friend, I found this great navy and white skirt at Gap Outlet on clearance. I was able to get this for $19.99 and it was such a good purchase. It fits perfectly and is so comfortable. I already had the blue sheer top that I had purchased from Ross last season. I have gotten so much wear out of this sheer navy top. It's so easy to dress up or down and the navy matches so may things. With it being long sleeve but also sheer, it works for pretty much every season. A sheer long sleeve top like this is a great investment to mix and match with so many different outfits. I'm also loving these camel colored booties that I purchased at Old Navy. They match virtually everything in my wardrobe and again are very versatile!   I have purchased several new pair of booties all ready this season but I have a feeling, these are going to be the pair that get a lot of wear!
Happy Monday!

Ponchos

Can I tell you how much I am loving ponchos this fall? I have to be honest and say, I always love a great poncho so I am so excited to see them popping up on my Pinterest pages and in some of my favorite stores this fall. A great poncho is so effortless and cute at the same time. And oh so comfortable, which is always important to me! Now that it is getting cold enough to wear one, I will be shopping for one of these this weekend! Here are a few I am loving! I love the camel color of this first one from old navy especially paired with the striped shirt underneath. I also love the style and color of this second one, but I will have to be watching for this one to go on sale! Hoping I can find one of these this weekend to wear with my leggings and boots. Anyone else fall shopping this weekend?!

Casual Bling

Tonight I pulled out one of my all-time favorite tops. I love it so much for a couple of reasons. First, it is extremely soft and comfortable. Second, it is a casual sweatshirt, the sequins bump it up a notch. The first season I bought this I wore it all the time. Then last year I didn't get to wear it at all since I was pregnant. So, I'm really excited to be able to wear it again this year! It's the perfect go-anywhere top.

Don't Wear Buddies...

So can we just talk for a sec about how important your shoes are?  In the past, shoes were not very important to me - I spent all of my budget on my clothes, leaving no money for shoes.  Then one day my husband and I had a very interesting conversation.  It went something like this:

Me:  I think shoes can kind of make or break your outfit; what do you think?
Drew: Oh, definitely!  Don't ever wear buddies.
Me:  What?  What are buddies?
Drew:  You know, just really ugly shoes.  You know the ones I'm talking about.  I mean, you can have an awesome outfit on, but if you have on buddies, it's all over.
Me:  All righty then.  Thanks for the input!

I went away from that conversation a little enlightened.  I mean, my hunk of a man is not really all that impressed by fashion.  But clearly the shoes make a difference to him.  I can't tell you how many times he has commented on the shoes that I wear.  So I think it's kind of important.  Don't you?  Here are a few shoes that I have my eye on.  I will be pinching some pennies, because I really want these shoes...

I absolutely LOVE these heels from Payless.  Have I shared these before?  If so, enjoy their awesomeness all over again:

It's interesting; I noticed a few days ago that I do not have nice knee high boots in black or brown!  I have cowgirl boots and riding boots, but no knee high boots that would work for some of my dressier outfits.  I really like this pair from Payless...

I absolutely love these shrug boots from JC Penney.  They have them in a nude color, which I would absolutely love to have...

I'm also needing a pair of brown or cognac colored booties for the season...I really like this pair from Rack Room...

And lastly, I have had my eye out for a while for a red pair of shoes...red is SO hard to find!  Wine and burgundy are really popular this year, which makes it even harder to find a true red.  I found these at Shoe Carnival and I ADORE the detail on this shootie...it has bows on the back with a laceup detail to the bow...they are just so adorable!  But at $70 for the boot, I don't think I'll be getting these any time soon.

Where do you get your shoes?  I need some affordable options, people!  Give me some advice, please!!

Happy Wednesday!

Finally Wearing Fall

Sunday morning was cold & it was awesome! I finally pulled out some of my new booties & was able to comfortably wear them. I definitely felt "fallish" in this outfit! I wore this hunter green dress I've had from Ross for a few years, this necklace & earrings from (I have no idea where??), & these booties from Ross.

Blazers

This past weekend, we finally had one day where it was cold enough to pull out some of my fall favorites. Saturday was rainy and a little dreary, but it felt so great outside! Anytime it is a little cool outside, I love blazers. Blazers are a great classic piece that always look great. I have had this particular blazer for a very long time.. And I do mean a very long time. It is American Eagle brand, but my sister, Amy, gave it to me about 8 years ago! I still love it as much today as I did then. Love this classic piece. I wore it with a simple black pencil skirt (another one of my favorite classic pieces!) and some boots. I love classic pieces that I can wear year after year! Anyone else have some favorite classics that will never go out of style?!

New Purchases & New Wishes...

I told you a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to share some of the purchases I have made from off of my fall wish list I shared with you a few weeks ago.  I'm also going to share a few things that I am currently wanting!

First of all, the elbow patch sweater...I LOVE this sweater!  It is so soft and has a great quality feel to it, and best of all, it has the elbow patches I was looking for!!!  I purchased it at JC Penney, and with their fabulous rewards, I was able to snag this beauty for under $15!

Next, I have been on the prowl for some leather...I'm pretty much in love with everything leather right now.  I purchased this leather jacket at Target and surprisingly, the sleeves fit great, which is always a challenge for me (sleeves are always way too long).

I have also been looking for some leather leggings, and I found some at Forever 21 (thanks to my sister Katie for sending me there!).  The leggings only cost me $12, so I was pretty excited about that!  I couldn't find the ones I bought online, so I will have to share a picture once I wear them.

One new thing that I want is a tartan scarf...I love the look of these scarves, and can't wait to find one...

I also want a pair of these shoes from Payless!  They are currently priced at $35.00, though, so I'm going to have to wait until they come down on the price a little bit!

So there you have just a few of my most current items on my wish list.  I'm afraid, though, that spending will be halted for a while...Christmas is coming, not to mention a trip to Disney World, and right after that a mission trip with my family to Guatemala!!!  So we have some big expenses coming up.  But a girl can dream; right?  Hopefully these fun things will be there after all of these expenditures are taken care of.  And if not, I guess I didn't really need them in the first place.  *Do I really believe that? No. But it sounds good.*

Happy Friday!

2 Year Anniversary

A couple of weeks ago was my and my husband's 2 year wedding anniversary! The last two years have flown by. I was so excited when Jesse told me that he bought us tickets to go see Phantom of the Opera at the Orpheum!! I absolutely love going to the Orpheum. To me, that is the perfect date. We get to spend time together, and it's a great excuse to get dressed up!
The night that we went the weather was perfect. I was able to wear this strapless dress and not have to worry about it being too cold out. I did carry along a little cardigan for inside the theatre. Jesse never dresses up as much as I do, so I paired this dress with my brown wedges. I felt like that kind of made it a little more casual. As far as accessories, I usually wear bigger jewelry, but for this night I went simple and just went with classic pearls.

Dress: H&M, Shoes: Maurice's
Jewelry: Gifts

WIWW: A Jean Dress + Cowgirl boots!

Well, can I just say that I was SO excited that on Sunday morning it was finally cool enough to legitimately wear a scarf and boots?!?!  It was really chilly in the morning,  but by the afternoon it warmed up to the mid 70s, so I chose to do my dress without any kind of tights.

Outfit Details:  Dress: Hand me down (originally Old Navy);
Scarf:  Walmart; Boots: Hewlett & Dunn

I can't wait to share with you some of the things I have bought off my fall wish list (remember that post here?)!!  I've checked a bunch of those things off of my list (which means, of course, that I have  a NEW fall wish list!).

So that's it for this week!
Happy Wednesday!

Sister Stripes

A few weeks ago, my family, Stacy's family & our parents went to a minister's conference. It was so fun getting to spend some time with the Murphy clan! It made me laugh because the first night of the conference, Stacy & I walked out of different hotel rooms both dressed in stripes! I told her of my new fascination with them (half of what I packed that week was some sort of stripe!).  So, I thought I would share some of our stripe pictures!

This is us trying to explain to our husbands how to take a decent picture of us...but we never got that!

I loved Stacy's outfit!!

My shirt came from Ross, my black pants from Old Navy, my leopard shoes from Target & my purse from Goodwill. Trust me, more stripes to come in future posts!!! :)
