Black & a Little Bit of Leopard

For church a couple of weeks ago the girls & I matched with a little bit of leopard print. I hate it because I didn't get a picture of all 3 of us because Jenna got sick. I did want to share my outfit though today although the pictures really don't do the outfit justice I feel. I love this black dress - so comfortable & cute. I threw my trusty leopard scarf on with it & wore my brown boots. There are a couple of different pictures with different angles so you can get a better look at the outfit.

Who doesn't love Leopard?! :)

A touch of leopard

I love all things leopard. Like, way too much. As a matter of fact, in high school, my bedroom was decorated in leopard... And not in a classy way but in a way.too.much.leopard.way!! But my love of leopard print has not changed! Apparently, everyone I know loves leopard print though. So much so that when I showed up to church on Sunday, rocking my touch of leopard, my sister was decked out in leopard print also and I found out that my mom has the same leopard print shoes I was wearing! Ha. In some cases that would be a very bad thing but since my mom is super trendy I wasn't too offended by that!! I am absolutely crushing on these leopard print shoes I found on sale at Payless for only $15.00 last weekend!!! They are so cute and comfy and what I love most about them is that the entire shoe isn't leopard. The front is leopard print and the back is black, which is perfect for someone like me who loves leopard print in small doses and not too overdone. I of course, when wearing leopard, stay true to my very simplistic style and keep the rest of the outfit very simple. Like this all black outfit I wore with it.

What about you, still loving leopard print or ready to move on to a new print?? I'm one of those leopard print never goes out of style girls! :)

What I Wore Wednesday...A Versatile Necklace

This necklace that I got from  Body Central has been a favorite.  I've always loved the look of pearls, and this necklace with pearls and silver ball clusters all over it caught my eye and it has turned out to be pretty versatile!  I pull it out often when I'm dressing up and when I'm dressing down.

Outfit Details: Sweater: JC Penney; Sheer top: JC Penney;
Skinny Jeans: Old Navy; Booties:Payless

I love wearing the outfit above because of the mixing of patterns.  I have loved this sheer button up top from JC Penney, and I've worn it in the summer and winter (I shared it here on my personal blog what seems like forever ago).  I feel like the necklace is the perfect piece to pull it all together.

I also wore this necklace a couple of weeks ago to church on a Sunday morning with a new peplum top I had gotten.

I actually took this picture a few days after the Sunday that I wore the outfit, and I was amused by the fact that as I looked through my iPhone pictures, I found that my 4 year old had caught a picture of me on the day I actually wore this outfit...

I love the randomness that I find on my phone every time one of my children has had it for any length of time!

Outfit Details:  Top: The Perfect Fit (local boutique); Skirt: Walmart;
Nude Heels: Target; Necklace: Body Central

Date Night

  For Valentine's Day one of our youth called us that morning & told us she would come pick up our kids & let them spend the night at her house (her mom watches our kids a lot)! We were like OK! It was very last minute & we didn't have anything planned but it was pretty great. Daniel had given me a Ross gift card earlier in the day for vday so of course we had to go there. Then we went out to eat at El Sombrero! I usually wear a dress for date night but I decided to go a different route. I wore these floral leggings from Ross, this royal blue shirt from Old Navy that was a hand me down, & put a pink undershirt with it from Target. It wasn't real cold on Valentine's so I wore my black heels that I LOVE. I think I got these from Ross too a few years ago. I loved this outfit with the floral print & pink of course! You can never go wrong with either.

Everyday style

This week in Tennessee has been COLD! Like, really, really cold for us. Or it feels that way to me. Partially because when I start raiding my closet, I realize that 99.9% of my winter shirts are three-quarter length sleeves. I only have a couple of shirts that are actually long sleeve, unless you count my workout shirts or t-shirts, but those don't really count here. This may be something for me to work on in the future! :) I realized yesterday, that not only am I not at all a jacket person but also, I'm not really a sweater person. This. must. change.

I did find one lowly sweater when I realized I needed one last night. I had purchased this cute beige sweater from Gap back months ago. When I pulled it out to wear it yesterday, it still had tags on it. Ha. So, even if I have sweaters, apparently I never wear them! Oh well, when I put this sweater on, I loved it. It is so warm and I love the high/low style of it. For now, it will have to be my only sweater for cold weather days! And that's fine by me as I know I will be wearing this more often.

I have to be honest though, rather than sweaters, I have my eye on spring clothes and can't wait to move on to some new spring clothes. Soon enough, right?

What I Wore Wednesday...Leather!

Outfit Details:  Tunic: Hand me down (original unknown); Leggings: Forever 21;
Cheetah Print Heels: Rack Room Shoes; Belt: Hand me down; Earrings: Body Central

To start with, let me say sorry for the quality of these pictures.  Because of the freezing cold weather we have been having, I have not taken any outside pictures - my iPhone is the best I've got right now!

For Valentine's Day, Drew and I had a little date night - dinner and a movie (we saw Exodus, which was really good although definitely not on point with Scripture)!  It was so much fun to get away together for the evening alone.  We have not been good about doing that lately.

Back in August I posted a fall wishlist HERE and on it was a pair of leather leggings.  I wasn't sure how often I would wear them since they're a little flashier than how I normally dress, but I went ahead and got them and I have absolutely loved them!  I'm so glad I took a chance and bought them.

Don't you just LOVE these shoes?!  I went into Rack Room looking for a pair of boots and came out with these.  For only $20, I thought they were a pretty good deal!  I absolutely love them and they are a great statement piece for a very affordable price.

Happy Wednesday!

A Spring Approach

It's cold. I thought it was about to be warmer here for awhile in Texas soon thereafter leading to Spring. Not so. Anyways, a few weeks ago we had our DNow. I wore jeans for 2 of the nights so I knew for one night I wanted to wear something with leggings. I decided to pull out my old green dress from Ross that I've had for a few years now but I knew I wanted to wear it differently than I had in the past. So, I put my trusty baby pink cardigan (that I got from Target with a gift card my dad gave me for Valentine's Day a few years ago). The colors perfectly matched a scarf that I bought like 3 years ago that I love but I don't necessarily wear that often. It was chilly (& the dress is short) so I wore my denim leggings from Ross & paired the outfit with my booties from Ross. I loved wearing this outfit & felt so dainty & girly in it!

Valentine's Gift

Every year for Valentine's Day my dad gets me and my three sisters a gift. He used to always get us candy, and then a few years ago he started getting us gift cards! He realized how much his girls like to shop! In the past he's gotten me a Target card and a Hobby Lobby card. This year he got me one to Charming Charlie! I was really excited to spend this card...in fact, I used it the first day I had it!! Jesse and I went on a date on Valentine's Day, and I convinced him to take me shopping. I had $15 on my card, and I wanted to use the whole thing without going over very much. We walked around the store like 3 times, and finally I decided on a bracelet. I was going to get two of them so I could stack them, and this would take up my whole card. Well, we got to the register and it was buy 1 get 1 free!! So...I've still got some money on my card.

I LOVE my bracelets!! My wrist is really tiny, so I always have trouble finding bracelets that will fit, but these are perfect. I also love that they are rose gold. I have some rose gold earrings that my mom gave me and a necklace from my mother-in-law, so I am glad to have bracelets to match now. Dad fixed me up good this year!

Casual Phone Pics...And a Pop of Red for Valentine's Day!

So that was probably the longest post title ever.  But whatever.  I felt like I had to do something for Valentine's Day; you know?

I'm sharing today just a few pictures of outfits that I wore out and about running errands and to some casual events.  Typically I share what I wore to church on Sundays, or my nicer dresses or outfits, so I thought it would be kind of fun and different to show you what I wear when I'm dressing down a little more (and a few of these are casual but a few are dressy casual).

First, my outfit that I wore on Wednesday night to church - typically I do the same thing that Julie does (HERE) and I wear some type of pink and red combo in honor of Valentine's Day, but this year I went away from that and just did a pop of red.

 Outfit Details: Cardigan: Hand me down (originally Target);
Scarf: Hand me down (original unknown);
White Tshirt: Hand me down (original Old Navy - LOVE this Tshirt!);
Skinny Jeans: Walmart: Booties: Payless; Ring: Body Central

For an afternoon out getting my taxes filed and lunch with my family I wore this sweater and my new old navy jeans...

Outfit Details:  Sweater: Hand me down (original unknown);
White long sleeve Tshirt: Hand me down (original Target);
Jeans: Old Navy; Black  booties: Hand me down (original Target)
Purse: Nine West - borrowed from my daughter

Please ignore the unmade bed in the background.  I had a "talking to" with my daughter about her dirty room after taking these pictures.  Maybe I should have talked to her before; IDK...

I wore this one night to a music production that my children were a part of...

Outfit Details:  Ruffle Cardigan: Hand me down (original unknown);
White Tshirt: Hand me down (original Target);
Black Skinny Leggings: Old Navy; Heels: Payless; Necklace: Body Central

I absolutely LOVE these heels and had to get a close up pic for you!

On the second night of the music show I wore this, and realized later that it looked a lot like what I wore the first night.  Oh well...

Outfit Details: Cardigan: Hand me down (original Target);
White Tshirt: Hand me down (original Old Navy); Jeans: Old Navy;
Booties: Payless; Handbag: Gianni Binni (Plato's Closet);
Watch:Sears; Necklace: Body Central

 Ignore what looks to be duck lips in these photos.  I can't do duck lips even when I try, so I don't know how I end up looking like I have them in these pictures.  And then I look really mad in the second picture, probably because of what I'm going to say next...

Can we talk about my daughter's bed again?  Clearly our "talking to" didn't take.  So now we have a chore chart up with punishments listed if chores are not completed.  Sigh.  All because of me taking outfit pictures.

I absolutely love the cardigan pictured above.  You can't tell from the lighting in the pictures, but it is a wine colored cardigan, which I really love that color.  It's a nice color and goes really well with gold, which I'm also loving right now.

Last picture, I promise!  For a quick lunch date (that actually turned into a two hour lunch date!) with a friend this week I wore this casual outfit...

Outfit details:  Shirt: JC Peneny;
Skinny ankle jeans: Hand me down (original Old Navy);
Booties: Payless

Clearly I'm super excited about getting out of the house in this picture; right?

Whew!  I hope that wasn't outfit overload!!  Tell me if it is and I won't do it again!
Happy Friday and more importantly, Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

Everyday style

While I'm not a huge fan of scarves on myself, I did love this one I found at Charming Charlie. This season I am really loving navy. Charming Charlie has a ton of infinity scarves for $10, which is perfect for people like myself who couldn't tie a scarf to save their life. I also love that their infinity scarves aren't too thick.
This navy cardigan and white top are both from Old Navy. I have so many of these cardigans but they are so versatile that you really can't ever have too many.
I love these boots that I scored on at Old Navy last season. I happened to find them for $10! This isn't a great shot of them because I am new to this whole trying to take a picture of myself in the mirror thing. {And obviously not good at it!} These boots are just slightly higher than my other booties, which makes them fit a little better with jeans.
Happy {early} Valentines Day!
Katie

What I Wore Wednesday...A Winter Dress & Coat

When I saw this dress at Ross, I absolutely fell in love with it, and even better was the price tag (I don't remember exactly what I paid for it, but I know it was under $20)!

I'm also digging this awesome coat that my mom got me for Christmas.  I absolutely love it and I get a ton of compliments every time I wear it!  It also came from Ross, which reminds me of why Ross continues to be my very favorite place to shop.

Outfit Details:  Coat: Ross; Dress: Ross; Tights: Target;
Booties: JC Penney; Purse: Francesca's

Happy Wednesday!

Valentine's Attire

I don't know about you but I LOVE Valentine's Day, I love dressing for Valentine's Day & I love Valentine's Day decorations. For the last week I have been dressing my family in Valentine's colors, Daniel included! Here are two outfits I have worn in the last week preparing for Valentine's Day.

This Old Navy heart sweater is so comfortable! It was a hand me down from a friend. My pants are dark jeans from Ross.

My favorite colors together are red & pink! I wore this to church on Sunday & a woman commented "This is such a Julie Taylor outfit"!!! I told her I had been wearing these colors since I was 15 every Valentine's Day! The dress I have had since I was like 15 & I have no idea where it is from. The cardigan is from Gap.

Have a LOVE filled Valentine's Day!

New Jeans

For awhile now I've been looking for a new pair of jeans. I was really specific about what I was looking for. I wanted straight leg, not skinny, dark wash, a length that I could wear with flats, and not too low of a waist. I knew it was going to be difficult to find all of those things! I looked a lot of different places and finally found a pair at Target! I was pretty surprised, because I've never bought jeans there before.

Cardigan: Ann Taylor Loft, Shirt: Old Navy,
Jeans: Target, Shoes: Nine West, Jewelry: Gift

I have thoroughly enjoyed my new jeans so far! They are the Mossimo brand, mid-rise straight. I was looking for a slightly darker wash, but I am really happy with these.

Tunics and Skinny Jeans

Today I'm going to show an outfit that I wore to church on Wednesday night. I always feel so comfortable when I wear my skinny jeans. They probably get worn more than any other item in my closet. Mom passed this top down to me and I immediately knew how I would wear it. I put it on with my jeans, cowboy boots and rose gold earrings. I love outfits that are easy and comfortable!

Clothes Mentor

So, I kept hearing about a new store here in town. It's called Clothes Mentor, and it's like a Plato's for adults! Sounded right up my alley! The other day mom and I went shopping (the first time I've been shopping for myself in AGES!!) and we decided to try it out. I've really been needing more casual clothes. I've always had trouble dressing casual...it seems like I start out with a casual outfit, but then I add my shoes and accessories and I end up way too dressy. A lot of my clothes are more "business casual" from when I worked in research. Now that I'm a mom and am going to ballgames and running errands I just do not seem to have the appropriate clothes. So, I knew what I was on a mission to find.

I love the outfit that I found! I ended up wearing it to the kids' basketball games on Saturday. I will definitely be going back to the store. There were lots of clothes and the prices were pretty good. I would highly recommend it!

What I Wore Wednesday...A Cheetah Print Dress

Outfit Details:  Dress: Hand me down (Originally Target);
Tights: Hand me down (Assets from Target); Booties: JC Penney
Red Coat (above):Gordman's, three seasons ago

This dress was originally a high-low dress, which I really do not like on me.  I took it to my sewing machine and evened out the back a little bit, and I have loved it!  The very best thing about this dress is that it was FREE because a very dear friend sees to it that at least twice a year I get a couple of bags full of hand me downs from her closet!  Everyone needs a friend like this :)

Happy Wednesday!

Jean Vest, Maxi Skirt & Accessories

I was so in the mood to wear a dress or a skirt the other day. I decided to wear my navy maxi skirt that I got from Burlington when I was pregnant with June. I paired it with this beige light weight sweater (I have no idea where I got it but I have had it for a long time)! I put my sleeveless jean jacket over it (from Ross) & wore this cute necklace that my mom gave me for Christmas from Charming Charlie. I carried my pink purse Daniel gave me for Christmas & I wore this super cute bracelet that I bought from Walmart for $4! I love it!

Hope you have a fabulous day!
